Project Overview
Turning Stone is a luxury hotel, golf resort, and casino in upstate New York that pays close attention to what their visitors want. So when their leadership team noticed a rising demand for golf space, Turning Stone decided to transform a few tennis courts with dwindling attendance into a new area their golf-seeking guests would love.
The Challenge
Cincinnati-based Keepers Turf installed a 17,000 square foot artificial turf chipping and putting center inside Turning Stone’s golf dome. This specialized indoor golf facility needed an infill to pair with the artificial turf that would be low-maintenance with high-end aesthetics, while also facilitating the perfect playing surface that Turning Stone knew their high end guests were looking for.
The Solution
Each of the six greens offers golfers a different speed and chipping experience with varied heights and densities of artificial turf. Despite each green’s unique qualities, one ingredient ties them together and solves a few vital challenges: each artificial turf green uses Envirofill 30/50 — a distinct sieve size of specialized coated sand — as infill that offers minimum upkeep, polished aesthetics, and a smooth putting experience.
We install Envirofill in all putting green projects because we have found it to be high quality and a consistent product compared to using regular raw sand. Envirofill does not absorb bacteria and works to fight off mold and mildew due to the Microban antimicrobial technology.
